Si started playing didgeridoo after a mystical experience in India in 1992. In this epiphany Si realized the inherent power of the didgeridoo and also a method for how to play. The combination of rhythmic breathing, vocal expression and the vibratory power of sound and music were uniquely combined in this ancient instrument from his home country Australia.
At this time he was studying to become a medical doctor at a prestigious university in Western Australia, in his hometown Perth. He left his studies and hitchhiked around Australia developing his unique style of playing whilst living in the remote outback. He later went on to study under Australian drum master Greg Sheehan and applied his rhythmic principals to the didgeridoo.
This workshop focuses on rhythmic breathing patterns that develop a player’s core strength and primal power. The focus is on creating a personal connection to the instrument and finding ways of encouraging each player’s unique style and sounds. Time will be spent playing, not talking. Si guarantees that this will be a demanding yet rewarding workshop for players of all levels.
